How You Can Help
Volunteering

Interfaith’s programs and services would not be possible without the support of our incredible volunteers.  Nearly every aspect of Interfaith is contingent upon volunteer support, and the opportunities for participation reflect the wide range of services Interfaith provides.

We have Individual Volunteer Opportunities and Group Volunteer Opportunities that include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing and Serving Breakfast
  • Food Pantry Distribution
  • Social Services Intake Worker
  • Clerical Support
  • Vocational Planner
  • Home / Yard Maintenance Provider
  • Receptionist
  • Handyman
  • ESL Teacher
  • Computer Lab Supervisor
  • Translator
  • Donation Drives

If you are interested in volunteering, please take a look at our Individual Volunteer Opportunities and Group Volunteer Opportunities listings, which detail specific opportunities within Interfaith.  For more information, contact Volunteer Coordinator Nusrat Symons at (760) 489-6380 ext.221, email nsymons@interfaithservices.org.

If you are looking to give back to the community, as an individual or as part of a group, Interfaith is the place for you!

Get Involved: Organize a Local Food Drive

Last year, Interfaith served and provided more than 375,000 meals to people in need throughout North County and more than half of those served were children. With the help of local service clubs, faith centers, corporations, and schools, we are able to provide a 3-day supply of emergency food for families struggling in our community.

Want to help make a difference in your own community? Hunger is not only a seasonal need, but a year-round struggle for many of our neighbors. Our Director of Basic Needs, Jerry Morgan, coined the campaign "Hunger Has No Holidays" to encourage local groups to organize food drives not only during the holiday season, but throughout the spring and summer as well. Warmer summer months are historically "slower" times for food drive giving and our pantry is often unable to keep up with the demand. Make a real difference and help Interfaith feed those in need every day of the year!

Get your school or club involved with some fun and wacky food drives. Check it out here.

Why Volunteer?

Having been a "professional" volunteer for many years, I feel that working at Interfaith has been the most gratifying of all the jobs I have had. There are so many people who are needy, not necessarily due to their own fault. Advising and helping them, if only temporarily, to get back on their feet, makes me feel that I have accomplished something. Not only that, but the staff is great and makes me feel appreciated. After 20 years at Interfaith, I would not trade my volunteering for anything else.
-Giselle Zanders

Volunteering is a way for me to fulfill my purpose in life of helping other people.  At Interfaith, I am able to do this by using the skills that I have gained through past experience.

Since I am fortunate enough to be retired and still have my health and energy, I can help people prepare their tax returns—which I love to do—or assist with legal clinic/intake.  These are activities that clients can not take care of themselves and need our services.
