Interfaith provides transitional housing for 32 families in two-bedroom, two bath apartments. Each family works closely with a case manager, a vocational case manager, a life skills trainer and counseling staff to identify and overcome barriers that have kept them from attaining or maintaining self-sufficiency. The program utilizes financial literacy and life skills training, vocational and educational planning, and individual, as well as family therapy to empower families and prepare them for a successful transition to permanent housing. Due to the high volume of applications, potential applicants should first attend an information session on the 2nd or 4th Monday of any month at 3:00 p.m. at 550 West Washington Avenue, Escondido.
Family Housing Success Story After months of homelessness, Michelle came to Family Housing after completing an in-patient drug treatment program. With no income and a drug history, Michelle was unable to find housing or employment. Michelle enrolled in school, learned new business skills, expunged her criminal record and attained full time employment. She also learned to manage her income and make payments toward past debt to clean her credit. She has since regained custody of her son, and her family has strengthened their bond through family therapy. Michelle has secured Section-8 housing and says, “I would do anything for the Family Housing program. I would not be where I am now if it wasn’t for Interfaith."
