Interfaith's Response to COVID-19

Interfaith Community Services is on the frontlines of this crisis, providing essential services and addressing the urgent needs of our most vulnerable community members

OUR NEIGHBORS NEED US NOW MORE THAN EVER

While the effects of COVID-19 are rapidly evolving, Interfaith has been working diligently to prioritize health and safety while continuing to provide critical services. During this time of unprecedented uncertainty, there are some things that are definite at Interfaith.

Get Involved

INTERFAITH WILL CONTINUE TO:

  1. Feed people who have nowhere to turn by offering emergency food packages, sack lunches and meals
  2. Move people off the streets into adequate and stable shelter to ensure their long-term self-sufficiency
  3. Help seniors and those with health conditions, who are homeless today, get into specialized shelter and motels
  4. Operate all residential programs, now open 24/7 so that residents may safely “shelter in place”
  5. Be a mailing address for those without a home, to ensure they receive medications and paychecks
  6. Offer showers and laundry services to the public, meeting a critical need for hygiene and cleanliness
  7. Provide job training programs for at-risk youth, veterans, and all Interfaith clients seeking employment
  8. Provide access to medical and behavioral health services in partnership with Neighborhood Healthcare
  9. Encourage social distancing practices and implement health screenings at all locations
  10. Operate our 32-bed Recuperative Care center for people being discharged from hospitals without housing and with continuing health conditions

If you or someone you know needs help, call 760-489-6380 to schedule an appointment.

COVID-19 CRISIS VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

As an increasing number of volunteers and staff stay home, the need for flexible volunteers who are in good health (not in high-risk categories) is even greater. Interfaith has specialized social distancing volunteer opportunities available, including face mask making, sack lunch building, and many more! The most up to date opportunities can be found here:

DRIVE-THRU DONATIONS

In order to prioritize health and safety, we have created a Drive-Thru Service for donations of food, hygiene items, and supplies. Simply drive-up to one of our parking spaces and our staff will happily meet you at your car to receive your donation weekdays from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at our headquarters – 550 W. PROVIDING MASKS TO THE FRONTLINE

With the mandate for all staff and volunteers to wear face masks, and clients scared to work or take new jobs without them, Interfaith and our community is ensuring all those who come to our centers are equipped with protective masks. We need your help to continue to provide masks for our folks on the frontline.

EMPLOYING OUR DAY LABOR PROGRAM

With unemployment at an all-time high, we need employers to hire our Day-Labor Workers. If you have daily, temporary or permanent job openings, our skilled laborers are available for improvement projects, painting, moving, yard work, construction cleanup and more. Workers complete a health screening as well as occupational health and safety seminars prior to employment.
