Morgan Run Ladies Prepare Haven House Meals

A total of 15 ladies who previously played tennis together at StoneRidge Country Club and have since moved to various other clubs are giving back to the community on a monthly basis.

For over a year, the group has gotten together each month to prepare and serve dinner to residents at Interfaith’s Haven House Year Round Shelter. Inspired by a teammate and Interfaith Board Member, the group finds meaning in doing more than playing tennis together. “We’re empty nesters with more free time. Playing tennis and having lunch is fun, but at the end of the day you want to give back, do something meaningful”, said Laurie.

On their day of service, the ladies meet at Katie’s home where they prepare her Aunt Char’s famous pasta recipe (includes 18 lbs of meat, 5 lbs of pasta and 268 oz of sauce!), along with fresh fruit and spinach salad. People sign up to go shopping and it helps that the cost of the meal is split among the group.

According to Dolores it’s the smiles on the residents’ faces that brings her joy, “The clients are so kind and appreciative. Since we serve regularly, we see some of the same people each month and are able to build a relationship with them.” Another teammate chimes in, “It makes me realize how fortunate we are to be able to give back. To not have to worry about where the next meal is coming from”.

Thank you to the Morgan Run ladies for their service and commitment to bettering the North County community!
