At the beginning of every week, Interfaith will be sharing both an in-kind donation and volunteer project “Need of the Week.” These are currently the items and volunteer projects we need the most assistance with. Give us a call today at (760) 489-6380 ext. 204 to get involved today!

Volunteer Need of the Week: Homeless Court Assistant Advocate

Support our clients as they stay on the path of self-sufficiency while utilizing your social services skills by helping Interfaith Community Services staff qualify and manage Homeless Court clients. Help us complete in-take paperwork, research on-going verification/assistance, develop client plans and do assessments, and enter progress notes for each client you manage.

Time Commitment:

  • One or multiple shifts per week
  • Escondido office: Wednesdays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Volunteer can work a four hour shift, or up to eight hours


  • BA or BS degree, preferred but not mandatory based on candidate’s experience
  • Experience in social services preferred
  • Must clear criminal background check
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse population
  • Ability to establish quick rapport with clients
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (Spanish-speaking skills a plus)
  • Knowledge of mental illness and substance abuse
  • Absolute solid values: honest, loyal, hard-working, and sincere
  • Possess strong attention to detail and persistent on following through with clients
  • Have the leadership skills, wisdom and initiative to accomplish assignments successfully by working independently with good judgment
