This week, we need your help coming both volunteer time and in-kind donations:

In-Kind Need of the Week: Peanut Butter and Jelly!

Peanut Butter and Jelly can be found at any local grocery, wholesale, or dollar! We would appreciate any amount of Peanut Butter and Jelly that you can donate!

We are also currently in need of the following food and household items:

  • Canned Goods
  • Rice & Beans (dried)

Your donation will help our clients receiving this support alleviate their hunger so they may move forward on their path to attaining self-sufficiency.

Volunteer Need of the Week: Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program

Interfaith Prepares for the Season!
Tax season!?! We can see it from here, and from our viewpoint, we know we need to populate this important program with some of our outstanding volunteers!

During the 2016 tax season (January to April), 15 VITA volunteers (Greeters, Tax Preparers, Quality Reviewers and Translators) prepared and supported 2,157 returns resulting in $3,151,672 going to our neighbors needing it most and back into our community?

This program is directly related to excitement for folks who arrive to have their taxes prepared and those volunteering… Gratitude is spontaneous knowing someone well-trained is willing to donate their time to help you do your taxes. And when you get to announce to someone who might be struggling that they will receive a refund, it’s easy to feel you made an immediate difference in their life!

“The extra time and diligence Rick took with me and put into going over each and every line item in my return undoubtedly saved me hundreds of dollars in overlooked deductions I might not otherwise have considered or missed.” – Interfaith Client

It’s time to reach out and ask you to consider and get more information about joining the VITA team for the 2017 tax season. You can be part of the VITA program in so many capacities, at a number of different locations throughout our neighborhoods, and have a flexible volunteer schedule. We need volunteers to be Greeters, Tax Preparers, Quality Reviewers, and Translators.

You can promptly receive more information about training, site locations, etc., by contacting Interfaith’s VITA Site Supervisor, Jazmin Hernandez (jhernandez@interfaithservices.org; 760-489-6380, ext. 216).

Help us build another exceptional VITA team for Interfaith clients, and feel free to forward this volunteer opportunity to your friends and family! This is a call to action for volunteers of all seasons — people available during weekdays, weekends, mornings, midday, evenings, any adult who has the heart to help!

If you are interested in either of these opportunitiesplease click here or call Micki Hickox, Volunteer Coordinator, at (760) 489-6380 ext. 204.
