POINT summer series in Poway focuses on compassion

Interfaith Compassion will be the theme for the ninth annual Summer Nights Series presented by the Poway Interfaith Team, an organization that often partners with Interfaith Community Services to provide for people in need.

The series will feature on four successive Thursdays, beginning July 10, youth and adult speakers from different faith traditions sharing personal stories of compassionate acts and what was learned from giving and/or receiving.

Each talk will be followed by a question-and-answer session and will feature music, video, refreshments and other activities. Poway Mayor Don Higginson will be a guest speaker at the July 31 program.

All sessions will be held from 6:45 to 8:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Community Church of Poway, 13501 Community Road, Poway. Love donations and contributions of canned food for Interfaith Community Services will be graciously accepted.

The schedule of speakers:

July 10 – Jewish, Christian, Hindu
July 17 – Catholic, Unification, Bahai, Buddhist
July 24 – Christian Science, New Thought, Sikh
July 31 – Mormon, Unitarian Universalist, Muslim
