Lisa came to Interfaith in need of a place to recover after she found herself in the hospital with a broken hip, a result of her alcohol addiction. After her recovery, Lisa transitioned into Interfaith's Behavioral Health & Recovery Program, where she lived for a year and began practicing something that surprised her: art therapy. Today, Lisa is sober, lives in her own home in Encinitas and volunteers with Interfaith, teaching arts & crafts to veterans currently enrolled in the Recuperative Care Program. "Interfaith saved my life, no doubt about it. I wouldn't have lasted long on the streets; they gave me a home and my sobriety."

Both Jessica and Jacob came to Interfaith separately, before they were a couple, seeking food and employment assistance. While they worked independently to achieve self-sufficiency, they soon met, married and became parents to a baby girl. After enrolling in Interfaith's Family Housing Program, the couple moved into an apartment, learned how to be diligent in saving, enrolled in family counseling and today, are living on their own with their two children. "We had lost pretty much everything - and then we found Interfaith. We are so thankful for what we have and everything we've been given."

Lucilo first walked through Interfaith's doors by way of the food pantry; he regularly received nutrition assistance, including turkeys during Thanksgiving to supplement holiday meals. When he found himself homeless several years later, Lucilo again turned to Interfaith for help finding a place to live. Today, with Interfaith's help, he lives in a three-bedroom apartment with enough room for his two sets of twins, ages four and nine. "I never thought I would be asking for all this help, but life goes up and down. I'm just very lucky I found a place like Interfaith."

Griselda, a junior at El Camino High School, described herself as a quiet, shy girl who struggled in school prior to involving herself with Interfaith's Transitional Youth Academy. Today, thanks to the mentoring she received, a summer internship she secured and weekly leadership lunches with staff and other students, Griselda has improved her grades and has her sights set on college. "I feel like I can accomplish things now. I know now that I can set goals and achieve them on my own."

Tony's journey with Interfaith began after he was laid off and found himself without a paycheck or health benefits. After talking with the social services team, Tony was able to obtain a security deposit for a new apartment, gain access to the emergency food pantry and was given a bus pass to get to and from work. "Interfaith kept me off the street. Without them, I don't know what I would've done."
