By providing a "hand up" and not a "hand out," Interfaith is able to help our clients get back on their feet and become self-sufficient by obtaining and retaining secure employment. VOCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Interfaith assists clients in their pursuit of self-sufficiency by helping them search, prepare for and retain stable employment. After assessing a client's needs, volunteer vocational planners and employment services staff work with clients one-on-one to set employment goals and objectives through a customized plan. Clients meet with staff regularly to work through each step of their plan, receiving the direction and encouragement they need to succeed.

Services available to clients include:

-Career assessments and employability tests
-resume and online application preparation
-Interview preparation and self-esteem mentoring
-Job search assistance
-Advocacy to resolve legal issues affecting employability
Filing for unemployment/CalJOBS
-Researching and/or applying for school and training opportunities, financial aid, scholarships and grants
-Workshops on typing and computer skills

COMPUTER LABS

Interfaith's clients are able to use our computer labs at both the Betty & Melvin Cohn Center in Escondido and the Coastal Service Center in Oceanside to conduct job searches, employment research, resume preparation and other vocation-related activities. General assistance on the computer is available from volunteers on a limited basis. Hours of operation by location are posted weekly in the lobbies of both buildings.

VETERANS PROGRAMS

Interfaith is committed to helping veterans find sustainable employment opportunities. We network with local employers and vocational training programs, as well as providing coaching to help our veterans become job ready.

These services include:

-Work readiness training
-Resume preparation
-Job search assistance
-Access to our computer resource labs in both Escondido and Oceanside

Specialized employment assistance is also available for female veterans and veteran families.

NORTH COUNTY LABOR CONNECTION

North County Labor Connection (NCLC) is a neutral location where laborers can connect with employers for daily, temporary or permanent job needs. Facilitated by the program coordinator, NCLC clients are available for job connections Monday - Saturday to perform home improvement projects, painting, moving, yard work, construction cleanup and more. Skilled labor, such as masonry and tile work, is also available with requests made in advance.

All NCLC clients receive a health screening, as well as occupational health and safety seminars prior to employmentl bi-monthly walk-in medical evaluations are also performed by a volunteer physician.

The work center office, located at the Betty & Melvin Cohn Center in Escondido, is open Monday - Friday from 5:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Weekend jobs can be arranged through the worker center office during normal Monday - Friday business hours.
