Empathy Builder - Poverty Simulator

Participants take on roles of individuals navigating a month with limited financial resources, making decisions around housing, food, employment, and unexpected expenses.

  • Develop empathy through realistic financial and emotional challenges
  • Practice budgeting and trade-off decision-making under constraint
  • Recognize personal assumptions and biases related to poverty
  • Identify ways to support and advocate for vulnerable communities

Kintsugi: The Beauty of Brokenness

Participants learn the Japanese art of repairing pottery with gold, exploring themes of healing, transformation, and personal growth through hands-on creative practice.

  • Understand Kintsugi philosophy — imperfection as beauty and resilience
  • Apply basic Kintsugi techniques to repair a ceramic piece
  • Explore personal challenges through guided reflective practice
  • Develop self-compassion by reframing setbacks as sources of growth

CERTIFICATION · 2-YEAR
Basic Life Support (BLS) Training

Prepares individuals to respond effectively to life-threatening emergencies. Covers CPR, AED use, choking management, and team-based rescue for adults, children, and infants.

  • Perform high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants as single rescuer or team member 
  • Use an AED safely and relieve foreign body airway obstructions 
  • Demonstrate effective team dynamics during multi-rescuer resuscitation 
  • Earn 2-year BLS certification via written and hands-on skills evaluation

Audience: Healthcare professionals, first responders, caregivers, teachers, school staff

EXPERIENTIAL · EVENT
Hunger Banquet

Guests draw tickets assigning them to different income levels and receive meals reflecting that reality—a powerful glimpse into inequities related to food and resources.
